Questions, answered honestly.
What Qumirais, who it's for, and how it treats your data and your clients. If your question isn't here, we'd love to hear it.
What is Qumira?
Qumira is care-plan software for practitioners. You take the quick note you'd normally jot or message after a visit, and Qumira helps turn it into a clear, branded, trackable care plan the person — or their owner — can actually follow between appointments. They can log progress, and message you, in one place.
Do I write the plan, or does the AI?
You do — the AI just drafts. Qumira structures your note into a first-draft plan (exercises, steps, frequencies, plain-language guidance) so you start from something rather than a blank page. You stay the clinician: you review, edit and shape every plan, and nothing is final until you say so.
Does anything get sent to a client without my approval?
No. Nothing reaches a patient or owner until you explicitly approve and publish it. Drafts stay private to your practice. You're always the last set of eyes before a plan, message or reminder goes out.
How do clients access their plan?
Through a private link to a calm, mobile-friendly plan page branded as your practice — no app to download and no account to create. They can read their plan, tick off what they've done, and message you from the same place.
Does Qumira work for both human and animal practices?
Yes — that's the point. Qumira is built for human physio, rehab and sports-therapy practices and for animal practices (vets, hydrotherapy, animal rehab and trainers) alike. You pick your domain at signup, and the wording, fields, note structure and plan style follow — so an owner reads about their dog, and a patient reads about themselves.
Can I run a practice that treats both people and animals?
Each practice account is set up for one domain so the language and plan style stay coherent for the people receiving them. If you genuinely work across both, get in touch via early access and we'll help you find the right setup.
Does Qumira make my practice compliant?
No — and we won't pretend it does. Software can't hold a qualification or answer to a regulator. What Qumira does is help you keep the records your regulator and professional body expect: the referring vet's diagnosis and what they authorised, notes that can't be quietly rewritten, and a complete record you can produce on demand. Which rules apply to you, whether a referral is needed, and what belongs in the record remain your professional judgement and your responsibility.
Can I record a veterinary referral?
Yes. On an animal's record you can capture the referring vet's name, their RCVS or SAVC registration number and practice, the date they examined the animal, their diagnosis, the treatment they authorised, any contraindications they flagged, and a review date — plus whether you hold the signed referral or consent-to-treat form. Remedial work (treating a diagnosed condition) and maintenance or fitness work are recorded as different pathways. If you start a remedial plan for an animal with no active referral on file, Qumira points it out. That's a warning, not a wall: it won't block you, and it won't make the call for you.
Are my clinical notes tamper-evident?
Yes. SOAP notes are append-only. Editing one doesn't overwrite it: the previous version is snapshotted first, attributed to whoever changed it and stamped with the time, and the note is marked as amended. Deleting a note leaves a tombstone — it comes out of your working view, but the record and who removed it are retained, so nothing vanishes silently. Each note also records whether the consultation happened in person or remotely. Separately, record exports and subject erasures are written to an append-only accountability log: who did what, and when.
Can I get a complete record out for a client, an insurer or another vet?
Yes. Qumira can produce one printable clinical record containing the subject's identifiers, referrals, SOAP notes (with amendments marked), outcome measurements and care plans — the document you'd hand to a client, an insurer or another clinician. Separately, you can export a client's data to support a subject-access request under UK GDPR / GDPR.
What can I record about an animal?
Beyond name, species, breed, sex, date of birth and weight, an animal record holds the identifiers a practice actually needs: microchip number, neuter status, insurance provider and policy reference, keeper address, and a deceased marker where that applies. Species and breed come from prepopulated pick-lists covering common UK and South African breeds and crossbreeds — and free text is always allowed, so an unusual animal is never a problem. You can add a photo, and set handling flags (for example: reactive to dogs or people, bite risk, muzzle required) with the specifics, which show as icons on your patient list so whoever's next sees them before they walk into the room.
Do you support UK and South African practices?
Yes — those are the regions we serve today. The registration-number field takes an RCVS or a SAVC number, the breed lists cover UK and South African breeds and crossbreeds, and the referral record captures the referring vet's diagnosis, which South African rules expect to be in the record. Your data is held on managed cloud infrastructure (intended to be EU/UK) wherever your practice is based; if you have specific data-residency requirements, raise them with us during early access.
Where is my data hosted?
On managed cloud infrastructure. We're finalising our hosting and data-location details (intended to be EU/UK) and will confirm them, along with our sub-processors, in the privacy notice before launch. If you have specific data-residency requirements, ask us during early access.
Can I export or delete a client's data?
Yes. You can export the information held about a client, and request erasure when it's no longer needed — both in support of your obligations under UK GDPR / GDPR. Our privacy notice (currently a draft) sets out how access, export and erasure work; tell us if you need something specific.
Who can see the information in Qumira?
Your practice's data is yours. Access is scoped to your practice and the team you invite; a patient or owner only ever sees their own plan via their private link. We use your data to provide the service, not to train public models on it.
Is there a free trial? What does it cost?
We're in early access while we shape the commercial model with our first practices. There's no card required to request access, and you approve every plan before anything is sent. Pricing detail will appear on the pricing page when it's available — for now, request early access and we'll talk you through it.
Can I invite my team or a referring specialist?
Yes. You can invite colleagues into your practice so the right people can prepare, review and follow up on plans together. Team and collaboration features are part of early access — tell us how your practice is structured and we'll make sure the setup fits.
How do I get started, and what support is there?
Request early access and we'll be in touch to set you up. Applications are reviewed individually during early access, so we can help you get your branding and first plans right and stay close as you find your feet.
